Fiber

Knitting is a meditation for me, a way to keep my squirrel brain occupied while I'm anxious or thinking or bored. From there, I moved into weaving, then quilting with a group of friends. For this project, the pieces that came about helped me solidify and mollify my thoughts around cancer and its effects on me and my community.
Biopsy 2025 cotton, wool, polyester fibers - 40x36 inches Part of series around the concepts of cancer - Biopsy is the result of sewing, quilting, stitching during the heady uncertainty of waiting between biopsy and results.
Spindle Cell 2025 cotton, wool, polyester fibers - 60x 12x10 inches Part of series around the concepts of cancer - Spindle Cell is the result of felting cooperative and difficult fibers together, processing the efficient deadliness of an aggressive tumor.
Clear Cell 2025 wool fibers - 8x8x10 inches Part of series around the concepts of cancer - Clear Cell is a weaving, made dimensional off the loom, wrapping in on itself, concealing its potent power.
